Granite is a beautiful product of nature and millions of years in the making. While it is a very durable and hard surface it must be properly cared for, Here are some important tips to remember when caring for your granite:
Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar or other acids on your granite countertops. They may etch the surface and cause damage. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks. Clean stone surfaces with a few drops of a neutral cleaner, available from your local Home Improvement Center Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with a soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use scouring powders or creams; these products contain abrasives that may scratch the surface.
If your granite is in contact with soap frequently you likely will incur soap scum build up. Using a squeegee will help keep this to a minimum.
